Opportunities in Swale...

There are a number of clubs and organisations providing opportunities in Swale -

Remember to contact the club/organisation before you attend to ask any questions you have on their activities.

Background to Baton Twirling...

It is thought that the activity can trace its history to Eurpoe and Asia with links to military marches and dance / community events that included individuals and teams performing skills or routines to entertain crowds.

The activity combines a great deal of skill to control and perform with the Baton as well as the artistic ability to dance along with selected music. There are various elements to the performances and competitions include both individual and team events.

A world body was established in the 1970's and since then there have been international events as a progression from the local and national competitions being offered; clubs and organisation will often be seen performing at local community events.

COVID-19

All activities offered by clubs overseen by a National Governing Body will be required to adhere to new procedures to protect participants. The National Baton Twirling Association is working along with Sport England to support providers to get back to activities.
