Every first and third Saturday of the month Preston Street is home to Best of Faversham Market, with stalls selling locally made, artisan food, drink, crafts, arts and local produce.   On the same days, Eventissima Events also holds artisan craft markets in the Alexander Centre, providing even more opportunities for fabulous shopping.

Other spots to shop in Faversham 

In addition to Preston Street, make sure you visit the Market Place and Court Street, with it’s historic buildings including Faversham’s famous stilted Guildhall and picturesque cobbled streets.  Many cafés and pubs have lovely outdoor tables for visitors to enjoy their lunch or afternoon tea and it’s a beautiful spot to rest and watch the world go by.

Faversham Charter Market trades here every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday which is an excellent time to visit for all your essential shopping.  You’ll also find the very popular monthly Antiques Market here on the first Sunday of the month – believed to be the country’s largest town centre antiques market. 

Pedestrianised West Street is also home to many beautiful buildings and independent businesses and always worth a wander when you’re visiting.  Make sure to head right to the bottom to find Upstairs Downstairs antiques emporium and Mrs Buckett’s Tea Room based on lower West Street. 

A short walk down the famous medieval Abbey Street (past Creek Creative Gallery with its shop and café) is Standard Quay.  Set alongside Faversham Creek, this is another lovely spot to enjoy some antiques shopping and something delicious to eat and drink.  

A visit to Faversham isn’t complete without stopping at Macknade on Canterbury Road – the region’s biggest food hall is packed with food and drink from Kent and further afield. 

How to get here

You can reach Faversham on the train from London Victoria and Highspeed from St Pancras International.  There are also good rail connections to Faversham from Margate, Dover, Canterbury, Ebbsfleet and the Medway towns.

Faversham is easy to reach by car, taking either junctions 6 or 7 on the M2 motorway.  The postcode for Faversham Central Car Park is ME13 8PW.
